TSEA/UNLV CME Program

TSEA is pleased to announce a partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for our  new
TSEA/UNLV Certified Manager of Exhibits (CME)
program effective January 01, 2011

Objectives

  • The CME Advisory Council defines the body of knowledge, skills and learning objectives and then reviews program to ensure it is defendable.

  • The Education Committee is charged with creating and implementing a curriculum to support a sustainable CME program and a continuing revenue source

New CME Requirements

  • Education: Seven (7) CEUs (70 hours); One TSEA/UNLV CEU credit is worth 10 hours of face-to-face learning.  Every course hour is worth 1/10th of a CEU

o    Other education sources:  Each CEU will be worth half.  Courses will be evaluated by a three-member panel for transfer credit (replacement of required TSEA/UNLV CME courses)

o    Fifty-percent of all education must be taken through TSEA or HCEA

 
  • Experience:  Industry experience required for CME.  Exact specifications TBD
  •  Service

o        Chapter service (operating council)

o        Board service

o        Committee service

o        Industry related articles and/or public speaking.  Documentation must be provided for articles
    (copy of publication with article or URL); Promotion copy documenting speech.

 

  •  Must be a member of TSEA

Education Curriculum

  • Classification of Courses
    Coursework will be designated Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.  Education waivers (if any) will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

          o       Beginner (Freshman): Courses 000-199
          o
       Intermediate (Sophomore & Junior): 200 – 399  
          o
       Advanced (Senior): 400 - 499

  • Webinar prior to January 2011
    All webinar materials prior to January 2011 will be available for CEU credits under the *personal development/leadership or elective MACRO.  The exceptions are are

            o       Marketing 101 (SP101)
            o       Speakers and talent  (CE230 )
  • Required Courses
    There are eight tracks:

            o      Strategic Planning
            o      Budgeting
            o      Measurement and Reporting
            o      Exhibit/Event Planning & Development
            o      Exhibit Design and Production'
            o      Marketing Communications
            o      People Logistics, Travel and Accommodations
            o      Corporate Events and Proprietary Shows
 
  • Electives:
           o      Personal Development and Leadership

        There are approximately 50 classes listed and TSEA requires seven (7) CEUs (or 70 hours of instruction). 

Applicability of the TSEA/UNLV CME Program to Previously Enrolled CME Candidates
 

  • CME candidates with less than four (4) CEUs as of January 1, 2011 will be required to take all required
    courses to earn a TSEA/UNLV CME
  • CME candidates with  four (4) or more CEUs as of January 1, 2011 may elect to continue their studies on the the previous TSEA CME and earn a TSEA CME
