Sharon Vonne Stone's Birthday

Although she was nominated for an Academy
award for Best Actress for her role in Casino (1995) and
for which she did win a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Dramatic
Motion Picture, Sharon Stone will always be first remembered for her
peek-a-boo vagina scene in Basic Instinct (1992) in which, during
questioning at police headquarters, she uncrosses her legs under her short
skirt, revealing that she isn't wearing panties. Sharon's memorable
portrayal of bisexual serial killer
angered gay activists, but made
Basic Instinct one of the highest
grossing films of the year.
When she saw herself in Basic Instinct she reportedly said to a
friend.. "Look how great they made me look. It's
unbelievable."
Sharon repeated a more sympathetic version of her lesbian persona when she co-starred with Ellen DeGeneres in the
2000 HBO movie If These Walls Could Talk 2 and earned an humanitarian
award for her role from the Human Rights Campaign..
When she tried to resurrect her bisexual killer persona in Basic
Instinct 2 (2006), the film was such a bomb that
film critic Roger
Ebert commented, "the Catherine Tramell role cannot be played well, but
Sharon Stone can play it badly better than any other actress alive."
However, bad reviews and huge losses did not bother Sharon who announced
that she would like to direct and star in Basic Instinct 3, but there
were no financing offers. That's just one of the many examples of ditzy
thinking that led many to question her claim for
years that she had an IQ of 148 and was a member of the high-IQ society
Mensa that only admits people who score in the top two percent of
their intelligence test. Sharon subsequently admitted she
had never been a member the exclusive group.
But age and IQ has not
defined Sharon's sexual charisma as was evidenced in her November
2009 cover of Paris Match in a bondage corset,
black underwear, stilettos, and topless at age 51.
She told America's More magazine in 2011, "Life and love is
like the ocean. Sometimes the tide is in and sometimes the tide is out, and
sometimes it's like the frigging Mojave. Where's the tide now? For me?
Mojave! Fortunately, I like the desert. I'm a desert flower. ... I really
get pursued by men in their 20s, like a lot. They probably know there's food
in the fridge and that somebody's going to talk to them and ask them how
their day was."
So what better way to celebrate Sharon's
birthday than with a life-size blow-up of her Paris March photo, raising
a toast to her with an eponymous Sharon Stone
Express Cocktail and watching her again in Basic Instinct ?
