Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel was born on February 19, 1963. Born in North London, Seal studied architecture in college and worked several odd jobs before embarking on small international tours with punk and blues groups. After returning to London, Seal’s big break came when he met producer Adamski, whose huge hit “Killer” was propelled to the top of the charts in 1990 by Seal’s smoky vocal work. From there, Seal’s eponymous debut album, which dropped in 1991, propelled him to superstardom with the international hit “Crazy.” From there, “Seal II” produced what is arguably Seal’s greatest hit to date: 1995’s inescapable smash “Kiss from a Rose.” Although the song didn’t chart well at first, a remixed version created for the Batman Forever soundtrack drove the song to the top of the charts and into the national consciousness. Seal continues to record and release well received soul, pop and dance albums. In 2004 Seal proposed to his girlfriend, Victoria’s Secret supermodel Heidi Klum. If that wasn’t awesome enough, he actually proposed to her inside a quinzee – a small hut Seal built entirely out of ice. He adopted her child from a previous relationship and the two have had three children since. Although Heidi and Seal seemed to a truly happy couple, they stunned their fans and ther public when Heidi filed for divorce in 2012. For Seal’s birthday, pay
tribute to one of the world’s smoothest musicians by cooking up a big dish
of Seal Hash. As cooking is always improved by music, queue up “Kiss from a
Rose” while you prepare the meal. We dare you not to sing along. |
